6ID joins in the celebration of Human Rights Consciousness Week
To boost awareness on human rights, the 6th Infantry Division joined in the celebration of the 23rd National Human Rights Consciousness Week commemorated on December 04-10, 2013.
On December 02, 2013, during the flag-raising ceremony, 6ID Assistant Division Commander Brig General Romeo G. Gan led the Officers, Enlisted Personnel and Civilian Employees in reading the “Panata sa Karapatang Pantao”.
The activity aimed to reaffirm soldiers’ commitment to abide by their obligations under international humanitarian law and the rule of law, and to respect human rights. Human RightsWeek is celebrated pursuant to Republic Act 9201 of 2002 that declares December 04-10 as National Human Rights Consciousness Week to bring awareness to the people of their basic needs and fundamental human rights.
Following the reaffirmation of commitment to human rights was the awarding of plaques of appreciation to the retiring civilian employees in grateful recognition and appreciation of their invaluable services to the Command by 6ID Commander Maj General Romeo L. Gapuz, namely: Mr. Roberto Montesa (22 years) of Camp Siongco Station Hospital and Ms. Theresita Aquino (25 years) of Management and Fiscal Office (MFO).
