President Duterte was accompanied by National Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana, AFP Chief of Staff General Ricardo R. Visaya, Philippine Army Commanding General Lt General Eduardo M. Año, Philippine Air Force Commander Lt General Edgar Fallorina, Philippine Navy Flag Officer in Command Vice Admiral Caesar C. Taccad, and Western Mindanao Command Commander Mayoralgo M. Dela Cruz during the visit. 6ID Commander Major General Edmundo R. Pangilinan, as host, received the President upon his arrival via Presidential Chopper at the 6ID grounds. During his brief Talk to Men, the President said that he is happy that the soldiers are doing well in their peace efforts within Central Mindanao which paved the way for the bolster of the economic activities in the region. He also assured all soldiers not to be bothered with work-related cases as long as they incurred such while doing their job well. “As long as you are on the right track, you need not worry because I will protect you,” President Duterte averred. The President further stressed that he wants to tap the soldiers to help fight illegal drugs in the county that affect thousands of Filipinos. After his visit to 6ID, the President will proceed to Buluan, Maguindanao for the inauguration of a solar power plant in the area. President Duterte is the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines and the first President to be elected from Mindanao. *****
